The steps must be done in this order to create a sustainable solution:

Become aware of the problem. |
Then become aware of its consequences.
Without understanding what it is and how it impacts you, you won’t have the motivation to change it. | Acceptance requires humility and self-compassion.
As Carl Rogers says, "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
